The Starry Starry Night, illustrated by Jimmy Liao

Reflection : The Lake by Banana Yoshimoto

I've always been in love with Banana Yoshimoto's novels. I started with the most famous - Kitchen - and later tried to read every her novels I could. Recently,I've just finished the latest one,The Lake.

It's about two people who had burdens of terrible memories. A woman who really wants to escape from their hometown and family when mother died to live her life as she wants. A man who was trapped by the nightmare since childhood and can't pull himself from the black hole. The couple lived together and tried hard to overcome their difficulties in the midst of deep fear. The lake in the novel is a place bringing the past and nowadays to meet as well as a place drawing hope back to two lives.

I have realized that even we can't forget bad things happened to life but time and some people can help us to heal that wound. Pain exits to challenge how much we really want to live. If we do,we need struggling in numerous way to bring back that life.

Nina Simone

Oh but this whole country is full of lies
You're all gonna die and die like flies
I don't trust you any more
You keep on saying "Go slow!"
"Go slow!"

Mississippi Goddam,Nina Simone

Mississippi Goddam

you are so afraid. You are entering into your grave alive."

The Sublime

The sublime - the experience of pleasurable anxiety

Japan and I

คือ "Japan and I" และ "ผู้หญิงกลิ้งโลก"

Japan Foundation)

Neediness

(I'm reading "Hector and the secret of love", a novel written by Francis Lelord. It's about a man -a psychiatrist- who tried to understand love and struggle through his personal love and relationship affairs. Most of the time, relationship is the big issue for our daily life not only with your so called "lover" but also with everyone who comes and exists in your life. That is such a long story and sometimes we've never known how should we deal with it.It has been on the process always,I guess)

Below is what Hector learnt about "neediness". I think everyone needs something more or less.Neediness seems to be critical in love and relationship issue.Hector found that:

"Neediness sometimes reaches peaks of suffering the intensity of which makes us fearful of the hours to come (How will I survive today? Tomorrow? The rest of my life?) It also causes moments of abstraction when we are with other people, even people we like.It is generally accepted that confiding our feelings to a close friend or professional can bring real life, although this is generally short-lived." (2) Prayer and Destiny

I've started to read the book, Eat Pray Love, for few months but unfortunately,I can't keep reading it until the end. I've got personal problem about foucusing on something long since several months ago. That was the main reason protecting me unable to finish any book. By the way,I've tried to keep reading gradually.

Now,I've reached at one important part of the book.It was about author's life in India for searching her spiritual growth.
She told about what she learned from practicing and struggling with meditation.I'd loved what she talked about the way of "Prayer" abd "Destiny" She comes up with that thinking after struggling through a hard form of meditation by herself. They were very relavant and rational, I think
...................

(This is what she mentioned about "Prayer")

"There's a wonderful old Italian joke about a poor man who goes to church every day and prays before the statue of a great saint, begging, Dear Saint-please,please,please ... give me the grace to win the lottery. This lament goes on for months. Finally, the exasperated statue somes to life, looks down at the begging man and says in weary disgust, "My son-please,please,please ... buy a ticket !" Prayer is a relationship, half the job is mine.If I want transformation, but can't even be bothered to articulate what, exactly,I'm aiming for how will it ever occur? Half the benefit of prayer is in the asking itself,in the offering of a clearly posed and well-considered intention, If you don't have this, all your pleas and desires are boneless, floppy, inert;they swirl at your feet in a cold fog and never lift."

Elizabeth Gilbert- Eat,Pray,Love

.....................

(This is what she mentioned about "Destiny")

"Destiny,I feel,is also a realtionship - a play between devine grace and willful self-effrot. Half of it you have no control over; half of it is absolutely in your hands, and your actions will show measurable consequence. Man is neither entirely a puppet of the gods, nor is he entirely the captain of his own destiny; he's a little of both. We gallop through our lives like circus perforners balancing on two speeding side-by-side horse-one foot is on the horse called "fate",the other on the horse called"free will". And the question you have to ask every day is - which horse is which? Which horse do I need to stop worrying about because it's not under my control, and which do I need to steer with concentrated effort?"

......................

I was happy that I've kept up reading till two passages. I personally tried to practice meditation for long time and tried harder to keep it with discipline but it's really hard to deal with the high speed train of our thought. That's the main abstacle. So I really need some guidances at this time for what should I follow and how should I deal with myself when I got stuck with unhealthy thought. I hope those good words could help someone to understand and guide the way of changing themselves much better.

(1) ..........

I understand myself much better when I was in unpleasant circumstances intentionally as well as unintentionally.
I can see wholely what actually the result will be or how peolple behave in such situation. Those reflect to me
and make me see who really am I.

Positively, I has learned a lot from others' doing and thinking.I will understand myself obviuosly what/who I do or don't like by confronting its own/theirs own. Even it's hard to accept but that's your way. You might find the ugly or pretty truth about yourself anyhow in the end.
